Sectionals

Each year WYSO provides coaches for each instrument section of the orchestra (violin, viola, cello, string bass, woodwind, brass, percussion). Sectional coaches are professional musicians, music teachers or University of Wisconsin-Madison music students who assist conductors during rehearsals and allow for a greater member-to-teacher ratio. Coaches are available to all members during rehearsals for:
•   Learning WYSO music
•   Teaching skills needed to play within an orchestra
•   Sectional teamwork
•   Simple instrument repair
•   Communicating with the conductor
