China 2009

After careful analysis and discussion, the decision has been made to cancel the 2009 Great China Tour.  We know this is quite disappointing to many of you and assure you this decision was not made lightly.  We have carefully considered the information provided on the pre-tour commitment forms and it appears there is simply not enough interest.  Less than 50% of Youth Orchestra members indicated a desire to participate in the tour and there were significant instrumentation issues.  Each member and family was asked to make a personal choice and we respect the decisions of each of you. 

At this time, we would be most appreciative if those of you who indicated that you did not intend to travel, as well as those of you who did not return the pre-tour commitment form, to help us understand your reasons and/or concerns.  Please drop us an email at wyso@wyso.music.wisc.eduand let us know why this trip was not for you.  (Or, snail mail it to the attention of Marie Breed if you would like complete anonymity.)  This information will be very helpful to us as we try to determine our next steps.  We want to know what type of opportunities are important to you as well as why touring (or this tour) might not be high on your list.   Thank you for helping us with this important information.
